Jamaica's Delattibudiere elected Pan-American Draughts Confederation General Secretary

Jamaica has achieved a significant milestone in the world of draughts and checkers with the election of Deputy Superintendent Jermaine Delattibudiere as the new General Secretary of the Pan-American Draughts and Checkers Confederation (PAMDCC). This historic appointment, secured at the 24th PAMDCC General Assembly in Suriname, not only grants Jamaica its first-ever seat on the confederation's administrative committee but also places the island nation at the forefront of regional governance for the 2026-2030 term.

As General Secretary, Delattibudiere will be instrumental in shaping the future of the sport in the Americas. His responsibilities include drafting the PAMDCC planning program, managing official correspondence with the World Draughts Federation and 28 member nations, and overseeing technical regulations for all Pan-American events. Delattibudiere emphasized his commitment to "quality administration, transformation, service and systems," aiming to build on existing structures, launch more youth programs, and ensure high-quality, transparent governance to foster growth.

This election is particularly noteworthy as it ends Curaçao's 12-year dominance of the Secretariat position. Delattibudiere's success is a testament to Jamaica's renewed commitment to the sport's development and compliance with international standards. The delegates' endorsement, citing Jamaica's dedication, highlights the country's readiness to take on a leadership role.

Furthermore, the announcement that Jamaica will host the next Pan-American 10x10 International Draughts Championships is a cause for celebration. This provides a valuable opportunity to showcase the island's capabilities in hosting international events and to further promote the sport domestically. Delattibudiere's vision extends to maintaining Jamaica's strong international record in Pool Checkers (8x8 draughts-64) while simultaneously working to improve its performance in the 10x10 Draughts-100 discipline.
