Jeff Bezos and Facebook co-founder eyed for Liverpool FC investment

Whispers from the UK's sports media indicate a potential major investment in Liverpool Football Club, with Amazon's Jeff Bezos and Facebook's Eduardo Saverin reportedly considering a joint bid. The duo are said to be interested in acquiring a 30% stake in the renowned English club.

Should the deal materialize, the Fenway Sports Group, which has managed Liverpool since 2010, would retain majority ownership. Bezos and Saverin would join a consortium led by Amit Bhatia, the son-in-law of industrialist Lakshmi Mittal and former shareholder of Queens Park Rangers. Their investment aims to provide financial backing for the club.

This potential acquisition comes with a significant valuation. Early projections suggest Liverpool's worth could soar to around six billion dollars following the investment. This figure represents a substantial leap from the approximately 300 million euros Fenway Group paid for the club in 2010, highlighting a considerable commercial success for the current owners.

Eduardo Saverin has prior experience in football club ownership bids, having been outbid in an auction for Chelsea in 2022. British media outlets anticipate an official announcement regarding the Liverpool deal by the end of this week or early next. Bezos's net worth is estimated at $280 billion, while Saverin's is over $32 billion.
