Jet ski crash into bridge support kills one, injures another in Turkey

A tragic accident occurred in Akçakoca, Turkey, when a jet ski collided with the support of the Melenağzı Bridge, resulting in one fatality and one serious injury. The incident happened in the evening hours near Melenağzı village, as the jet ski, operated by Arif Yalçı, was moving from the fishing harbor towards the point where the Melen River meets the sea.

The jet ski reportedly went out of control before striking the bridge's concrete support. The impact caused both Yalçı, the driver, and his passenger, identified as İlknur Y., to be thrown into the water. Emergency services, including the Coast Guard, lifeguards, medical teams, and gendarmerie, were dispatched to the location immediately following the incident.

Despite extensive efforts by medical personnel, Arif Yalçı succumbed to his severe injuries at the scene. İlknur Y., who was also seriously injured, was transported to a hospital for treatment and is currently receiving medical care. Authorities have initiated an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident and the circumstances surrounding the loss of control of the jet ski.
