Jiachiar High School's English Micro-Film Contest Showcases Creativity and International Vision

The recent English micro-film competition at Tainan's Jiachiar High School is a shining example of how our educational institutions are fostering creativity and global perspectives among students. This initiative, which evolved from stage plays during the pandemic into a micro-film format, has become a vibrant platform for students to merge their English language abilities with the art of filmmaking. The diverse range of themes explored in the 12 finalist works—from school bullying to reflections on youth and gender issues—demonstrates a keen awareness of contemporary social topics and a sophisticated approach to storytelling. What truly elevated the event was the integration of international culture, with four exchange students from Romania, Brazil, Belgium, and Mexico not only co-hosting the awards ceremony entirely in Mandarin but also sharing their cultural heritage through traditional performances. This cross-cultural exchange is precisely the kind of 'local connection to global' education that Jiachiar High School champions. It's inspiring to see students using the campus as a backdrop and venturing beyond its walls to capture their narratives, developing skills in screenwriting, directing, and post-production.
