Kaduna gov warns against threats to Nigeria’s democracy

Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has issued a stern warning to Nigerians, urging them to remain vigilant against any attempts by opposition elements to destabilize the nation's hard-won democracy. Speaking at a state banquet for the Presidential Media Team currently touring Federal Government projects in the North-West, Governor Sani emphasized the collective responsibility to uphold constitutional governance.

He lauded the media team for their efforts in highlighting the significant infrastructure development projects underway in the region, particularly within Kaduna State, under President Bola Tinubu's administration. Governor Sani cautioned citizens against being misled by "self-serving narratives" that prioritize political interests over national progress. He drew parallels to the past, recalling the sacrifices made by journalists and pro-democracy activists who endured detention and fought for the democratic freedoms currently enjoyed.

The governor specifically honored the memory of late journalists Bagauda Kaltho and Dele Giwa, while commending presidential aides Bayo Onanuga, Sunday Dare, and Tunde Rahman for their roles in defending democracy and publicizing the government's achievements. "People must realize that we had many sleepless nights in the past, fighting for democracy," Sani stated, underscoring the critical importance of safeguarding the democratic gains achieved over the years.

The Presidential Media Team, led by Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, inspected several key projects, including roads, a Skills Acquisition Centre, and the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Specialist Hospital. They also viewed the Kaduna-Kano-Jigawa-Katsina-Maradi railway project. Onanuga praised Kaduna's transformation as a testament to the effective utilization of increased federal allocations under Tinubu's fiscal reforms, noting that previously neglected communities are now benefiting from tangible infrastructure development. He remarked that Governor Sani has proven himself a proactive leader, committed to public good.
