Kano governor defends Garo’s selection as deputy

Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has firmly backed the appointment of Murtala Sule Garo as his Deputy Governor, emphasizing that the decision was rooted in Garo's proven capabilities and dedication to advancing the state's progress. Speaking at the 39th Executive Council Meeting, Governor Yusuf highlighted the rigorous selection process, which involved considering a multitude of potential candidates.

"We tried as much as possible to select someone who can provide matching contributions toward the development of the state," Yusuf stated, underscoring the administration's focus on leadership that can drive tangible results. The governor elaborated that Garo emerged victorious after a thorough review of past performances and an assessment of his potential to contribute significantly to Kano's current and future development. This meticulous approach aimed to ensure the best possible leadership for the state.

Governor Yusuf also extended his commendation to the Kano State House of Assembly, led by Speaker Jibril Ismail Falgore, for their swift confirmation of Garo's nomination. The governor also took the opportunity to congratulate Hajiya Bilkisu Shehu Maimota on her appointment as the new Head of Service, recognizing her substantial contributions during her tenure as Director and Permanent Secretary.

Adding to the day's positive developments, Governor Yusuf was presented with 39 Outstanding Excellence Awards, recognizing his administration's achievements. Notably, a primary school teacher presented him with thirty thousand naira as a token of appreciation for his performance in educational development. These accolades reflect the administration's commitment to good governance and its positive impact on the lives of Kano's citizens.
