Kazakhstan announces proposed 2027 monthly calculation index

Kazakhstan’s monthly calculation index, or MCI, is proposed to rise to 4,693 tenge in 2027, up from 4,325 tenge this year. The figure appears in the government’s draft national budget for 2027-2029.

The same draft keeps the minimum wage at 85,000 tenge. It raises the minimum pension to 74,919 tenge from 69,049 tenge in 2026, while the subsistence minimum used for social payments would increase to 55,173 tenge from 50,851 tenge.

The Cabinet has released the budget for public discussion. Lawmakers will then review it and propose amendments before the document goes to the Kurultai, Kazakhstan’s new unicameral Parliament. If approved, the bill will be sent to the president for signature.

The proposed MCI is not yet final, but the figure usually remains unchanged during discussion and legislative review. The MCI affects fines, state fees and some tax payments, as well as social allowances and other benefits calculated using the index. The Finance Ministry presented the draft national budget on August 25, including projected revenue, planned spending and main funding priorities.
