Kenge Road Accident Claims Four Lives in Motorcycle Collision

A devastating road accident in Kenge claimed the lives of four individuals on Monday evening, August 10. The collision involved a tricycle and a two-wheeled motorcycle on National Road No. 1, near a sharp bend.

The accident happened in a section of the road that was significantly narrowed by a large truck that had broken down and was obstructing the path. Visibility was reduced in this area, contributing to the crash. The drivers of both vehicles and their two passengers died instantly at the scene.

This tragic event marks the second fatal accident to occur on this particular stretch of road within a two-week period, raising serious concerns about road safety in the region. The previous incident underscores a pattern of dangerous conditions.

Kenge Mayor Noël Kuketuka attributed the recurring road fatalities to a combination of factors. He cited technical failures in vehicles, risky behavior by drivers, speeding, and the poor state of road infrastructure, including the persistent presence of abandoned vehicles that impede traffic flow. The mayor's statement highlighted the urgent need for improved road safety measures and enforcement.

Wanting to avoid the vehicle coming at high speed, the motorcyclist swerved. At that spot, there is an old large vehicle parked there, which is broken down. The place narrowed.
