Kilkis, Greece: Fire in low vegetation prompts large-scale response

A fire erupted in low vegetation in the Xirovrysi area of Kilkis, Greece, on Monday morning around 11:30 AM. The blaze prompted a swift response from emergency services.

Efforts to extinguish the fire are currently underway, with a significant contingent of 45 firefighters on the scene. They are supported by a ground team and 14 vehicles. Notably, the firefighting operation includes 15 firefighters from Moldova, who arrived with three vehicles, demonstrating international cooperation in tackling the incident.

To combat the flames effectively, two aircraft have been deployed for aerial support, dropping water on the affected areas. The Municipality of Kilkis is also contributing to the operation by providing water tankers to assist the firefighting crews.

The fire in Xirovrysi is one of several recent news items reported in Greece.
