Kilkis: Scuffle and injuries during arrest for fraud involving alleged debt to AADE

An attempted fraud in Kilkis, Greece, was thwarted when police arrested one of two suspects just before he could collect gold coins and jewelry from a victim. The operation turned dramatic as the accomplice fled in a vehicle, injuring two police officers and the victim while trying to ram a patrol car. The incident occurred last Thursday afternoon when officers from the Kilkis Crime and Investigation Department arrested a man for attempting to defraud a citizen via a phone scam. A second individual, whose identity has been confirmed, is also implicated and being sought by authorities. According to the police investigation, an unknown accomplice called the victim's home, posing as an AADE (Independent Authority for Public Revenue) employee. He convinced the victim to gather gold coins and jewelry for a collaborator. Police quickly mobilized and located one of the alleged perpetrators as he was about to receive the valuables. He resisted arrest forcefully. During the confrontation, his accomplice got into a getaway vehicle and, executing dangerous maneuvers, injured two officers and the victim before fleeing the scene. He also attempted to ram a police vehicle. The arrested suspect faces charges and is being brought before the Kilkis District Prosecutor. Police continue their search for his accomplice.
