Syros: Prosecutor Orders Reenactment of Fatal Altercation, Suspect's Home Guarded

A prosecutor has ordered a reenactment of the fatal incident on the Greek island of Syros that led to the death of a 41-year-old woman. The investigation is ongoing, and the prosecutor has also instructed police to arrest the suspect's wife on charges of complicity in the homicide.

Security footage indicates the victim arrived at the suspect's residence disguised, wearing an EKAV (National Center for Emergency Care) uniform, gloves, and with her face partially covered. She carried a backpack containing an air rifle and a knife, and used a plastic bag to ring the doorbell, avoiding direct contact. The suspect's wife answered the door and was reportedly attacked with a knife, sustaining a minor injury.

A struggle ensued inside the home, during which the 41-year-old male suspect allegedly grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed the victim in the back. The victim then fled the house, pursued by the suspect who reportedly threw a flower pot, hitting her head, and then struck her with a chair. She collapsed outside and later died at Syros Hospital.

The 41-year-old suspect, who has been arrested and charged with homicide, maintains he acted in self-defense during the altercation. The exact motives behind the deadly confrontation remain unknown as authorities continue their investigation.
