KMT Legislator Slams MOHW's 'Health Coin' Policy as Slogan, Questions NT$9 Million 'Junk App'

As a proud member of the Kuomintang (KMT) and a dedicated legislator, I, Chen Ching-hsin, must express my profound disappointment and strong criticism regarding the Ministry of Health and Welfare's (MOHW) "Health Coin" initiative. The repeated pronouncements about launching this policy in April have proven to be nothing more than empty slogans, failing to materialize into a concrete plan.

The MOHW's approach has been characterized by a lack of transparency and a disregard for practical implementation. The suggestion to link the Health Coin policy to a defunct app, "Health Go," which incurred a staggering NT$9 million in development costs yet garnered minimal downloads before being delisted, is frankly astonishing. This raises serious questions about the ministry's judgment and fiscal responsibility. Furthermore, the MOHW has consistently ignored valuable suggestions, such as integrating the Health Coin with existing programs like the "National Life Wallet" concept, which would offer a more intuitive and user-friendly experience for the public.

We have repeatedly sought clarification and progress reports from the MOHW, only to be met with vague and evasive responses. This pattern of delayed action and unclear planning is unacceptable. The public deserves a government that is accountable and delivers on its promises. We must ensure that our government operates with integrity and competence, avoiding the pitfalls of mismanaged initiatives that erode public trust. It is imperative that the MOHW re-evaluates its strategy, engages in meaningful consultation with all relevant stakeholders, and presents a robust, well-thought-out plan before proceeding.
