Kogi Confirms Rescue of Victims Abducted from Orphanage

The Kogi State Government has announced a significant victory against criminal elements with the successful rescue of all victims abducted from the Daarul-Kitab Islamic Orphanage in Lokoja. The confirmation, issued by the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mr Kingsley Fanwo, brings relief to the families and the state following the April 26 attack that saw 23 pupils and the proprietor's wife taken.

The operation, carried out in the Agbaja Forest axis of Lokoja Local Government Area, resulted in the safe recovery of five boys, two girls, and two adult females.

This successful operation, which led to the recovery of the remaining nine victims in the early hours of Wednesday, is a testament to the intensified security operations across the state. The rescue mission, spearheaded by troops of the 12 Brigade of the Nigerian Army with support from other security agencies, took place in the Agbaja Forest axis of Lokoja Local Government Area. The freed individuals, comprising five boys, two girls, and two adult females, have been moved to a military medical facility for necessary care.
