Korea Food Industry Association Boosts K-Food's Standing in Egypt

The Korea Food Industry Association (KFIA), in collaboration with the Korea-Africa Foundation and the South Korean Embassy in Egypt, has successfully hosted a K-Food fusion event in Cairo. This initiative marks a significant step in elevating the status of Korean cuisine in Egypt and across the African continent. The event, held at the residence of the South Korean ambassador, brought together 16 Korean food companies and numerous Egyptian business representatives, underscoring Egypt's growing importance as a gateway to the African market for Korean products.

Today's event was a valuable opportunity to directly experience the diversity and charm of Korean food and to understand each other's cultures.

The B2B export consultation session proved highly productive, with over 80 participants from 51 Egyptian companies engaging in one-on-one meetings. This resulted in approximately $8.5 million in potential export deals, demonstrating a strong interest from Egyptian buyers in Korean food products. The event also included a B2C tasting session, where Egyptian consumers and Hallyu fans could experience Korean dishes firsthand, further popularizing K-Food.

This event is more than just a trade mission; it's a strategic effort to weave K-Food into the fabric of cultural exchange, trade, and investment between Korea and Egypt. Building on a previous memorandum of understanding, the KFIA and the Korea-Africa Foundation are committed to fostering a synergistic relationship. The success of this fusion event is expected to accelerate the expansion of K-Food into the Egyptian market and serve as a stepping stone for broader African market penetration.
