Kozlovskis promises 'harder' Rail Baltica cost forecasts

Updated cost projections for the ambitious "Rail Baltica" railway project are slated for public release in September, with Latvian Minister of Transport Rihards Kozlovskis emphasizing that while the figures won't be exact, they should offer substantial clarity.

Kozlovskis, speaking on the program "Spried ar Delfi," stated that the upcoming estimates, while not possessing 100% certainty, are expected to provide a much clearer picture of the financial commitments required. He acknowledged that earlier projections were based on preliminary understandings that ultimately diverged from the actual expenses encountered.

"When it came to actual procurements, we saw that these are two completely different things," the minister remarked, highlighting the gap between initial visions and the financial realities of the project. He suggested that the previous commitments were made based on a provisional outlook that proved to be significantly different from the final costs.
