KPK Detains Pemalang Regent Anom Widiyantoro for Extortion

Pemalang Regent Anom Widiyantoro has been detained by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on suspicion of extortion within the Pemalang Regency government. The detention followed an arrest operation conducted on Tuesday, July 28, 2026.

As he was being escorted to a KPK detention vehicle, Regent Anom offered an apology for his conduct. "We understand the situation, we apologize to everyone," he stated upon exiting the KPK's Merah Putih building in South Jakarta on Thursday, July 30, 2026. Anom was detained alongside three other individuals: Mohamad Haris, described as the regent's confidant; Setya Budi Dias Oktavianto, a KPK administrative staff member; and Setya's father, Lilik Budi Suprianto.

KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo detailed that the investigation encompasses two distinct clusters of alleged corruption in Pemalang Regency. Regent Anom is reportedly implicated in extortion schemes targeting both his subordinates and private entities. Concurrently, Setya Budi Dias Oktavianto, the KPK staff member, is accused of extorting Regent Anom himself. "Based on sufficient legal evidence for these two investigation clusters, investigators have named four individuals as suspects," Prasetyo announced.
