Pemalang Regent Apologizes After Being Apprehended by KPK in Corruption Case

Pemalang Regent Anom Widiyantoro has apologized following his arrest by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on suspicion of corruption. The alleged offenses involve corruption related to projects and the illicit sale of positions within the Pemalang Regency government in Central Java.

Anom, along with three other individuals, has been detained for an initial period of 20 days. This detention follows intensive questioning since Tuesday, July 28, 2026. All four suspects were seen wearing the KPK's distinctive orange detainee vests and had their hands cuffed as they were escorted to the KPK detention center.

The KPK is scheduled to hold a press conference later today to provide a detailed account of the sting operation and the full scope of the alleged corruption case. The operation, which involved raids in Pemalang, Purworejo, and Jakarta, led to the arrest of 21 individuals. Among the evidence seized was over 2 billion Indonesian rupiah in cash.
