KPK Searches Regent's Office in Bribery Case for Job Auction

Indonesia's Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has conducted searches at multiple locations, including the office of the Regent of Kuantan Singingi (Kuansing) in Riau province, as part of an investigation into alleged bribery related to the selection of a regional secretary.

The KPK investigators searched the Kuansing Regent's office, the DPRD office, and the Plantation Office, as well as the residences of former Regent Suhardiman Amby, former Regional Secretary Zulkarnain, and Ardiles, the Director of PT Mitra Ideal Consultant. These searches took place from Saturday, July 4, to Monday, July 6, 2026. The KPK stated that documents and electronic evidence supporting the case were found during these operations.

In this case, the KPK has named three suspects: Kuansing Regent Suhardiman Amby, Kuansing Regional Secretary Zulkarnain, and Ardiles, Director of PT Mitra Ideal Consultant. The bribery case reportedly began when the Kuansing Regency government held an auction for the Regional Secretary position in April 2025. Two candidates vied for the role: Fahdiansyah, who was the Assistant I and Acting Regional Secretary, and Zulkarnain, then Head of the Public Works and Public Housing Agency.

According to the KPK, Regent Suhardiman allegedly demanded a Toyota Land Cruiser 300 GR-S from both candidates. Zulkarnain reportedly agreed to the demand and was subsequently selected as the Regional Secretary for the 2025-2030 period. To fulfill the demand, Zulkarnain purchased the vehicle for Rp 2 billion, intending to pay it off through monthly installments. However, his financial profile did not meet the requirements for such a loan, leading him to use Ardiles's identity to secure the financing. Zulkarnain had previously gifted a Mitsubishi Pajero worth Rp 700 million.
