KPK seizes car from wife of Kuantan Singingi Regent amid bribery probe

Indonesia's Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has seized a Mitsubishi Pajero SUV from Suci Nitia Edwar, the wife of Kuantan Singingi Regent Suhardiman Amby. The vehicle is reportedly connected to allegations of bribery involving Suhardiman's appointment as Head of the Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency in 2021.

KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo confirmed the seizure on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, stating the vehicle was being transported to Jakarta. The investigation centers on allegations that Suhardiman Amby solicited bribes in exchange for public official positions within the Kuantan Singingi Regency government. Suhardiman and the Regional Secretary, Zulkarnaen, surrendered to the KPK on Tuesday evening, June 30, 2026, following an operation in Riau.

Investigators are looking into claims that Suhardiman requested a portion of the profits from village cooperative members, who are farmers in Kuantan Singingi. According to KPK's Acting Director of Investigation, Achmad Taufik Husein, Suhardiman allegedly asked for half of the farmers' monthly earnings, which amounted to only hundreds of thousands of rupiah.

The case reportedly began when the Kuantan Singingi Regency government held an auction for the Regional Secretary position in April 2025. Two candidates participated: Fahdiansyah, Assistant I and Acting Regional Secretary, and Zulkarnain, then Head of the Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency. Husein stated that Suhardiman demanded a Toyota Land Cruiser 300 GR-S from both candidates. Zulkarnain allegedly agreed to this demand and was subsequently appointed Regional Secretary for the 2025 period. To fulfill this requirement, Zulkarnain reportedly purchased the Land Cruiser for Rp 2 billion, intending to pay via a five-year credit plan. However, he allegedly used the identity of Ardiles, Director of PT Mitra Ideal Consultant, to secure the loan as his own profile did not meet the credit requirements. Zulkarnain had previously gifted Suhardiman a Mitsubishi Pajero valued at Rp 700 million to secure the position of Head of the Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency in 2021, a purchase also allegedly facilitated by Ardiles.
