KPK Seizes Rp 4 Billion Cash from Bengkulu Public Works Head's Home

Indonesia's Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has seized more than Rp 4 billion in cash during a search of the home belonging to the Head of Bengkulu City's Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Agency, Noprisman. The operation, conducted this week, also involved searching an office and a private company's residence involved in medical equipment and waste management. The KPK stated that investigators secured the cash, along with documents and electronic evidence, to support their ongoing investigation.

The seizure is linked to the ongoing bribery case that ensnared the former Regent of Rejang Lebong, Muhammad Fikri Thobari. The KPK had previously arrested Thobari, the Deputy Regent Hendri, and 11 others in a sting operation on March 9, 2026, related to alleged bribery for projects within the Rejang Lebong Regency government. A day later, the KPK officially named five suspects, including Thobari and Hary Eko Purnomo, Head of PUPR for Rejang Lebong.

Authorities suspect that Muhammad Fikri Thobari solicited bribes ranging from 10 to 15 percent of project values from three private parties. The KPK announced an expansion of the investigation on July 20, 2026, but had not named additional suspects at that time. The investigation continues to uncover potential corruption within regional governments.
