KPK Uncovers Three Corruption Clusters in Unsoed Rector's New Student Admissions

The Indonesian Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has uncovered a corruption scheme involving the Rector of Universitas Jenderal Soedirman (Unsoed), Prof. Akhmad Sodiq, in the admission of new students. The KPK revealed three distinct clusters of corruption occurring between 2025 and 2026.

According to Achmad Taufik Husein, the Acting Director of Investigation at KPK, the first cluster involved Sodiq's knowledge of actions taken by the Vice Rector for Student Affairs, Prof. Norman Arie Prayogo. In August 2026, Norman allegedly solicited money from parents of prospective medical students through intermediaries.

The second cluster saw Sodiq directly instruct his nephew, MYN alias Nono, during the independent admission process in 2025 and 2026. Sodiq's coded instructions to MYN, such as "don't ask at the beginning" and "if given, say thank you," were reportedly used when parents sought assistance for their children's admission.

The third cluster implicated the Head of Academic Affairs at Unsoed, identified by the initial ES. Sodiq was aware that ES communicated with and received money from individuals collecting funds from prospective students. Following these reports, Sodiq granted ES access to his user ID, enabling ES to approve the admission of students who had paid bribes.

The KPK conducted a sting operation on August 20, 2026, apprehending several university officials, including Sodiq, Norman, and Vice Rector for General Affairs and Finance Prof. Kuat Puji Prayitno. The following day, six individuals were officially named suspects: Akhmad Sodiq, Norman Arie Prayogo, MYN, ES, and two intermediaries, DMW and AW. Prof. Kuat Puji Prayitno was not among those named as suspects.
