Krka nearly doubles sales in China, eyes India expansion

Slovenian pharmaceutical firm Krka saw its net profit climb 6% year-on-year to 260.3 million euros in the first half of 2026, according to its latest financial report. The figures align closely with earlier estimates provided by the company.

Sales revenue in the second quarter alone rose 5% to 553.6 million euros, a slightly more modest increase than in the first three months. However, net profit surged by 49% in the second quarter to 139 million euros, a notable jump from a 20% decrease in the first quarter. Fluctuations in net profit are largely attributed to currency exchange rate impacts, which significantly affect Krka's bottom line due to its substantial international operations.

Looking ahead, Krka is expanding its global footprint by building a new factory in India. This facility is slated to commence production in early 2028 and will be instrumental in bolstering the company's sales across Asia. While Krka aims to diversify its sales beyond Europe, the company acknowledges that Eastern Europe, particularly Russia, continues to represent a substantial portion of its market.
