Kurtalan Ekspres Delivers an "Beyond Time" Night at Harbiye

Anatolian rock music's enduring legacy resonated through Istanbul's Harbiye Cemil Topuzlu Open-Air Theatre as the band Kurtalan Ekspres presented their "Beyond Time" concert. Organized by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality's Culture, Art, and Social Affairs Department, the event celebrated the rich heritage of Turkish rock music, uniting artists across generations on a single stage.

The evening was particularly dedicated to Ahmet Güvenç, the band's chief and bassist, marking his 50th year with Kurtalan Ekspres. His half-century journey in music, a significant contribution to Turkish rock, was honored through this special concert. Songs originally performed by legends like Barış Manço, Cem Karaca, and Erkin Koray were brought back to life by contemporary artists, paying tribute to Güvenç's dedication and the band's influential role.

Kurtalan Ekspres, featuring Ahmet Güvenç, Tolga Akyurt, Koray Alarslan, Taha Purcafer, and Selim Işık, was joined by a host of guest artists. These included Ari Barokas, Cahit Berkay, Cihangir Akkuzu, Emrah Karaca, Gür Akad, Kaan Tangöze, Kıraç, Ogün Şanlısoy, and Şevval Sam. Together, they performed the iconic works of Manço, Karaca, and Koray, showcasing the timeless appeal of their music.
