Kuwait edges Saudi Arabia to book Asian Youth Handball Championship quarterfinal spot

Kuwait has advanced to the quarterfinals of the Asian Junior Handball Championship, securing their place with a hard-fought 30-28 victory over Saudi Arabia in their final Group B match held in Jordan.

The Kuwaiti team, known as 'The Blues,' delivered a strong performance in a closely contested game. They managed to maintain their lead through critical moments and successfully fended off Saudi Arabia's attempts to rally, ultimately clinching a two-goal win.

This result positions Kuwait in third place within Group B, following a preliminary round that included an initial dominant 29-9 victory over Syria, followed by losses to Qatar and Iran. The win against Saudi Arabia provided a positive conclusion to their group stage matches.

Kuwait will now face the runner-up from another group in the quarterfinals. The coaching and administrative staff are focused on leveraging the team's increased confidence and preparing the players for the demanding knockout stage. Qualification for the semifinals is particularly significant, as the top four teams earn a spot in the 2027 IHF Men’s Youth World Championship.
