Kuwait inspectors find 50 food safety violations, destroy 500kg of meat

Kuwait's General Authority for Food and Nutrition (PAFN) has intensified its food safety monitoring with a campaign in the Mahboula area, aiming to protect public health. The inspection involved teams from the Ahmadi Governorate and several inspection units, alongside the Samples Department.

During the operation, 50 violations were issued to food establishments. These infractions included operating and trading food products without valid health certificates, failing to adhere to health and safety requirements, running businesses without licenses or with expired ones, and unauthorized use of additional spaces. Critically, 500 kilograms of meat that did not meet approved specifications were seized and destroyed.

Furthermore, 26 food samples were collected for laboratory testing to ensure compliance with safety standards. PAFN stated that these ongoing campaigns are crucial for enhancing field supervision and guaranteeing the safety and quality of food products for consumers across Kuwait. Similar inspections in Mubarak Al-Kabeer Governorate also resulted in 25 violation reports for breaches of hygiene, improper food handling, and operating without proper authorization or valid health certificates for staff.
