Kuwait's Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh crackdown yields 1,253 arrests

Kuwait's Ministry of Interior is intensifying its security campaign in the Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh area, aiming to eliminate violations, bolster security, and re-establish public order. The operation, operating under the directives of First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah, is a coordinated effort involving various government bodies.

This latest phase builds upon previous actions that led to the eviction of illegal residences and the apprehension of individuals sought for security-related offenses, as well as those violating residency and labor laws. Security teams are actively inspecting evacuated properties and monitoring the area to prevent reoccupation and ensure compliance with official decisions.

The Ministry of Interior has stated that legal action will be pursued against anyone found breaching security measures or laws. The campaign is planned to continue and expand to other areas exhibiting similar violations, with the overarching goal of preventing recurrence, maintaining order, and enhancing the quality of life.

During the campaign, the Ministry of Health provided medical care to 784 individuals at a shelter center, referring 61 for further hospitalization. The Ministry of Commerce and Industry issued 256 violation reports against businesses and closed 10 establishments. The General Fire Force executed 188 administrative closure orders for fire safety and licensing enforcement. The Public Authority for Food and Nutrition reported 315 violation reports, ordered the destruction of unfit food, and initiated 12 closures for food safety breaches. The Environment Public Authority issued 90 environmental violation reports, referring offenses to the Public Prosecution.

The Public Authority for Manpower reported extensive enforcement, including 6,511 inspections of businesses, leading to legal action against 1,471 establishments. They conducted 376 field inspections targeting workers, identified 129 cases of illegal money collection for residency permits, and referred 110 individuals from the shelter to the Deportation Department. In total, 1,253 individuals were arrested.
