Kuwait Urges Factories to Halt Operations During Peak Hours to Ease Power Load

In a decisive move to combat rising electricity demand and ensure grid stability during the hotter months, Kuwait's Public Authority for Industry has issued a directive requiring industrial facilities to suspend operations during peak power consumption hours. This measure, which mandates a halt to factory work between 11:00 AM and 5:00 PM, is a critical component of the nation's broader sustainability strategy.

The directive, set to be implemented from September 15, 2026, to May 15, 2026, aligns with guidelines from the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy. Businesses will be permitted to operate during evening hours, with a particular focus on those running single or double shifts.
