Kyrgyzstan traffic police report over 23,000 violations in one week

Kyrgyzstan's Main Department for Road Traffic Safety (GUOBDD) reported a significant number of traffic violations during a recent enforcement campaign. From July 17 to July 23, authorities identified a total of 23,735 infractions across the country.

The campaign resulted in penalties for 4,619 drivers who were operating vehicles without the necessary documentation. Additionally, 429 individuals were apprehended for driving while intoxicated. These figures highlight ongoing issues with compliance among drivers.

Further violations included 4,451 protocols for improper vehicle operation and 1,226 instances of speeding. The GUOBDD also recorded 924 violations involving pedestrians, 222 cases of illegal window tinting, 22 instances of "auto-hooliganism" (reckless driving), and 11 vehicles found with counterfeit license plates. Another 8,614 violations fell into various other categories.

In response to these widespread violations, 3,217 vehicles were impounded and sent to impound lots. The GUOBDD has issued a public appeal, urging both drivers and pedestrians to strictly observe traffic rules and regulations to enhance road safety.
