La Chorrera Prepares for Patron Saint Festival with Church Renovations and Religious Events

La Chorrera is abuzz with anticipation as the community gears up for the vibrant fiesta patronal in honor of San Francisco de Paula. This significant religious and cultural event, scheduled for Monday, May 4th, is more than just a celebration; it's a testament to the enduring faith and traditions that bind the community together.

Under the guidance of Father Rafael Ochomogo, the parish church has undergone beautiful renovations to prepare for the festivities. New murals now adorn the walls, offering a visual narrative of Saint Francis of Paula's life, while newly installed stained-glass windows promise to bathe the sacred space in a kaleidoscope of light. These enhancements not only beautify the church but also serve to deepen the faithful's connection to their patron saint.

The celebration is set to be a multi-day affair, commencing with novenas that began on April 25th. A special vigil, complete with artistic performances and religious services, is planned for Sunday, leading up to the main event on Monday. The day's festivities will kick off at 10:00 a.m., culminating in the much-anticipated traditional procession that will wind its way through the main streets of La Chorrera starting at 8:00 p.m. The logistical arrangements are well underway to welcome the thousands of devotees who annually participate in this cherished tradition, reflecting the deep spiritual significance of the event for the people of Panama Oeste.
