Lagos LCDA crowns beauty queen to promote youth talents

In a vibrant display of community engagement and talent promotion, the Coker-Aguda Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in Lagos State has crowned Miss John Oyinkansola Rebecca as its beauty queen. This initiative transcends a mere pageant; it represents a concerted effort by the LCDA to actively engage and nurture the diverse talents residing within the community, particularly among its youth.

The grand finale, held in Lagos, was more than just a competition for a crown. It served as a platform to celebrate young individuals, inspire aspiring models, and showcase the rich tapestry of creativity present in Coker-Aguda. Chairman Mr Ogidan Azeez emphasized that the event was designed to foster a sense of pride and opportunity, encouraging youths to present innovative ideas that the council, alongside mentors, would support.

It is not the beauty pageantry alone we are showcasing today. The LCDA also has one of the best Adire hubs and designers who are part of the programme as exhibitors. People will see us as a tourism hub to get Adire from the global world.

The presence of Adire hubs and designers as exhibitors underscored the LCDA's ambition to be recognized as a significant tourism destination for this traditional Nigerian fabric. The winner, Miss Oyinkansola, is set to become a tourism ambassador, promoting the LCDA's unique cultural heritage. This holistic approach, combining talent development with cultural promotion, highlights the forward-thinking leadership within the Coker-Aguda LCDA, aiming to elevate local youths to national and even global stages.
