Lando Norris signs historic long-term McLaren deal through 2030

Lando Norris has committed his future to McLaren, signing a contract extension that will see him race for the team until at least the end of the 2030 season. The deal, announced by McLaren on Saturday, includes a multi-year option to continue their collaboration beyond 2030, making it the longest contract in Formula 1.

Norris, who secured his first drivers' world championship last season, has been a pivotal figure in McLaren's resurgence. He joined the McLaren junior program in 2017 and made his F1 debut in 2019. In 163 Grand Prix starts for the team, he has achieved 13 victories. He was also instrumental in McLaren securing the constructors' world championships in 2024 and 2025.

"McLaren is my home. We have achieved our goals of getting back to the front and winning championships, but we want more," Norris stated in the team's press release. Reflecting the team's sentiment, he emphasized a shared ambition for continued success.

In recognition of his achievements, McLaren announced they would gift Norris one of the MCL39 cars with which he won the world championship in the 2025 season. This gesture underscores the team's appreciation for his contributions and the significance of their partnership.

Currently, Norris sits fourth in the championship standings with 159 points. The standings are led by Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli with 242 points, followed by George Russell and Lewis Hamilton, who are tied for second with 183 points.
