Large quantity of smuggled goods seized in Turkey; 48 suspects processed

Authorities in Turkey have conducted operations resulting in the seizure of a substantial amount of smuggled goods and legal action against 48 suspects. The operations targeted individuals involved in the trade and transportation of contraband materials entering the country illegally.

According to a statement from the Governorship, the Provincial Gendarmerie Command, coordinating with the Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Branch, carried out operations within the province and its districts. These actions were conducted under the scope of Law No. 5607 on Combating Smuggling.

During the operations, 43 separate incidents were recorded. The seized items included 7,978 packs of contraband cigarettes, 1,660 packs of heated tobacco products, 1,343 cigars, 102 miscellaneous items, 89 electronic cigarettes, 34 electronic devices, 29 thermoses, 4 kilograms of hookah tobacco, and 4 liters of contraband whiskey and raki.

Legal proceedings have been initiated against the 48 suspects apprehended in connection with these smuggling activities. The seizures represent a significant effort by law enforcement to curb illegal trade and protect national revenue.
