Liberal leader urges unity over Lithuania’s direction

Liberal leader Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen is calling on Lithuania’s liberals and conservatives to protect a common direction for the country, even as they compete for voters.

Speaking at the Conservative Party congress, she said the two parties agree on Western values, security, support for Ukraine, and the need to follow rules and laws.

Čmilytė-Nielsen stressed that politics should be mature and responsible. She said politicians should not pursue short-term popularity and argued that the country should not be entrusted to irresponsible people.
