The 12th Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) celebrated the vibrant tapestry of African cinema and television, with Nollywood stars Linda Ejiofor and Bucci Franklin emerging as significant winners. Ejiofor's powerful performances earned her both Best Lead Actress and Best Supporting Actress accolades, a testament to her versatility and talent.

Franklin's anticipated win for Best Supporting Actor in 'To Kill a Monkey' resonated with the audience, highlighting the depth of talent within the industry. Uzor Arukwe also received recognition for his role in 'Colours of Fire,' underscoring the high caliber of performances showcased at the event.

Notably, the evening saw a surprising outcome for popular actress Funke Akindele. Despite her film 'Behind the Scenes' garnering four nominations and achieving significant box office success, it went home empty-handed. This outcome, while disappointing for Akindele's fans, reflects the competitive nature of the awards and the diverse range of talent recognized by the AMVCA jury. The event, a celebration of African excellence in film and television, also honored industry veterans Kanayo O. Kanayo and Sola Sobowale with industry merit awards.
