Lithuania braces for cooler, wetter Tuesday after Cyclone Flora, with warmer weather to follow

Lithuania experienced a stormy Monday as Cyclone Flora traversed the country, bringing wind and rain.

According to meteorologist E. Latvėnaitė, while the cyclone will move northeast, the country will remain under the influence of a Scandinavian-based cyclone system on Tuesday. This will bring persistent, strong westerly winds, especially along the coast, and continued rainfall, though less intense than on Monday. Occasional thunderstorms are also expected, accompanied by cooler air moving in from the north and northwest.

Although the stormy and wet cyclone will move to the northeast, on Tuesday we will still be in the southern part of the cyclone system located above Scandinavia. On Tuesday, a strong westerly wind will blow everywhere and constantly, and it will be even stronger on the coast. We will still get rain, though less, and thunderstorms will sometimes rumble, and cooler air from the north, northwest will break through, it will cool down.

However, a shift in weather patterns is anticipated from Wednesday. An anticyclone moving in from the south and southwest will usher in drier, calmer conditions. This will allow warmer air to flow into Lithuania from the south and southwest, leading to a gradual temperature increase throughout the week.

By the end of the week, particularly on Friday, significantly warmer weather is expected. Despite the rising temperatures, there is a possibility of short showers or heavy thunderstorms, with Saturday being the most likely day for such activity, according to current data. The weekend will remain summer-like warm, although cooler air might reach northern and northeastern regions by Sunday and Monday night. Nevertheless, daytime temperatures are expected to remain pleasant.

From Wednesday, an anticyclone will move from the south, southwest, with drier, calmer weather towards the Baltic and Lithuania, and warmer air will flow in from the south, southwest. It will get warmer, and by the end of the week, especially on Friday, much warmer.
