Lithuania's U18 women's basketball team wins bronze, earns promotion

Lithuania's U18 women's basketball team has returned home after securing a bronze medal at the European Championship B Division in Romania. The team's arrival in Vilnius was delayed, with players landing well after 11 p.m. due to a flight disruption in Riga.

In the decisive bronze medal game, the Lithuanian squad triumphed over Austria with a score of 71-64. This victory was particularly sweet as it avenged a previous 44-54 loss to the Austrian team during the group stage.

Earlier in the tournament, Lithuania defeated Greece 74-66 in a hard-fought quarterfinal after overtime. However, they faced a tough challenge in the semifinals, losing to the host nation, Romania, 48-78.

Despite the semifinal setback, the bronze medal secured Lithuania's promotion to the prestigious A Division of the European Championship, where they will compete against the continent's top-ranked teams.
