Lithuania's Viktorija Senkutė wins European Championship silver medal

Lithuanian rower Viktorija Senkutė has secured her first European Championship medal, earning a silver in the women's single sculls at the event in Varese, Italy. The 30-year-old athlete finished second in the 2000-meter race with a time of 7 minutes and 19.22 seconds.

Senkutė led for the first half of the race but was eventually overtaken by Great Britain's Lauren Henry, who defended her European title with a time of 7:15.11. Serbia's Jovana Arsić took the bronze medal, finishing in 7:21.58.

This silver medal is a significant achievement for Senkutė, surpassing her previous best European Championship performance of fifth place last year. Her success follows her bronze medal win at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Other Lithuanian rowers also achieved success at the championships. The Stankūnas brothers, Dovydas and Domantas, won a silver medal in the men's pair event, while Martyna Kazlauskaitė and Dovilė Rimkutė secured a bronze in the women's double sculls.
