Lithuanian celebrities accused of hiding assets from bailiffs

Lithuanian public figures Petras Daunys and Rasa Barauskaitė are reportedly employing tactics to shield their assets from bailiffs following a court order to pay over 8,300 euros in damages and legal costs. The couple, previously known for their public image, now face allegations of attempting to conceal valuable property.

One notable instance involves Barauskaitė's Range Rover Evoque, valued at approximately 20,000 euros. Court documents indicate that she gifted the vehicle to her father shortly before Christmas in 2025. This action was reportedly taken to prevent the car from being seized by bailiffs. However, the real estate broker who initiated the lawsuit, Vilma Kelmelė, sought legal recourse, arguing the transfer was a sham to avoid debt repayment.

The Vilnius District Court ruled that the property transfer was not conducted in good faith. The court determined that the car was gifted after the debt ruling had taken legal effect, thus infringing upon the creditor's interests. Consequently, the judge ordered the Range Rover Evoque to be returned to Barauskaitė. This decision also resulted in additional costs for her father, who was ordered to pay 1,282 euros in legal expenses, increasing Barauskaitė's total debt.

Adding to their financial troubles, Daunys is also under the watchful eye of bailiffs concerning his Mercedes-Benz E 200. Reports suggest that the vehicle's usage rights have been restricted, and it has been deregistered and banned from road use. This move may be an attempt by Daunys to protect the car from potential enforcement actions by bailiffs. The situation highlights the challenges faced by creditors in recovering debts from public figures who may resort to such measures.
