LOT Polish Airlines Adds Eleventh Boeing 737 MAX 8, More Expected

LOT Polish Airlines welcomed its eleventh Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft into its fleet, with two more scheduled to arrive before the end of August. This delivery marks a significant step in the airline's ongoing fleet modernization and expansion efforts.

Krzysztof Moczulski, a spokesperson for LOT, confirmed the arrival of the aircraft, noting it is the eleventh of thirteen ordered Boeing 737 MAX 8s. While this is the latest delivery, LOT has been acquiring this aircraft type since December 2025, making it the 29th such aircraft in their operational history. This continuous integration of new aircraft highlights the airline's commitment to enhancing its capacity and service.

The airline's strategic vision includes growing its fleet to 110 aircraft by 2028. This expansion involves acquiring new planes while simultaneously phasing out older models. In addition to the Boeing 737 MAX 8s, LOT has placed substantial orders for Airbus A220 aircraft, signing agreements for 40 planes with options for an additional 44. This dual-pronged approach to fleet acquisition underscores LOT's ambition to remain competitive and efficient in the European aviation market.

Currently, LOT operates a fleet of over 90 aircraft. In 2025, the airline transported 11.7 million passengers, a 9.4 percent increase from the previous year. This passenger volume places LOT as the third-largest carrier in Poland, behind Ryanair and Wizz Air. The Polish State Treasury remains the majority shareholder, holding 69.3 percent of the company, with the Polska Grupa Lotnicza holding the remaining 30.7 percent.
