MAHA 2026 exhibition to drive RM8 billion in MoUs, focusing on agricultural innovation

The upcoming Pameran Pertanian, Hortikultur dan Agro Pelancongan (MAHA) 2026 is poised to be a significant platform for economic activity, with expectations of memorandum of understanding (MoU) signings totaling RM8 billion. These agreements will span diverse fields, including vehicles, technology, and food management, fostering collaboration between local and international companies.

Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu, Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, highlighted that this year's MAHA will place a strong emphasis on innovation and modernization within the agricultural sector. The exhibition will also feature a notable increase in international exhibitors. New participants are expected from African and Central Asian nations, alongside established exhibitors from China, Britain, Japan, and the United States.

"They also want to be part of MAHA and see the technological developments, especially in agriculture, so that we can share this technology among other countries," Mohamad stated after officiating the MAHA 2026 East Zone Tour in Kota Bharu. He underscored the critical importance of focusing on innovation and technology, particularly as food security has become a paramount agenda globally.

Mohamad emphasized the collective responsibility of citizens and the government to ensure sufficient and secure food supplies. This focus is especially crucial given Malaysia's continued high dependence on food imports. The MAHA 2026 exhibition aims to address these challenges by showcasing advancements and fostering international partnerships in the agri-food industry.
