Major Fire Engulfs Jakarta Bapenda Building, Floors 11-16 Affected

A major fire engulfed the Jakarta DKI Bapenda Building on Friday night, affecting floors 11 through 16. The head of the Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service, Bayu Meghantara, confirmed the affected levels but could not immediately pinpoint the fire's origin due to ongoing cooling operations.

During the firefighting efforts, rescuers successfully evacuated a single worker who was on the 15th floor undertaking renovations. The individual was safely transported to a hospital for further medical attention. As of Saturday morning, there were no reported fatalities or other injuries.

The blaze reportedly began around 9:00 PM Western Indonesian Time. Fire crews were dispatched and commenced intensive extinguishing efforts at 9:41 PM. Cooling procedures are continuing to ensure all hotspots are extinguished. Authorities are investigating the exact cause of the fire and assessing the total damages incurred.
