Major Forest Fire Rages in Zautla, Puebla; Municipal, State, and Federal Forces Battle Blaze

The state of Puebla is currently grappling with a significant forest fire in the Zautla municipality, a situation that has mobilized a substantial response from various government agencies and local volunteers. The fire, which has impacted a large area of forest in the San Andrés Yahuitlalpan community, is being fought with aerial and ground support, including a helicopter and 175 volunteers who have joined the efforts.

According to the State Coordination of Civil Protection and Disaster Risk Management, the fire is 80% controlled and 70% liquidated. This progress, achieved through a coordinated effort involving municipal, state, and federal forces, as well as the Municipal Civil Protection, the Zautla City Council, the Advanced Medical Emergency System, and the Forest Police, highlights the commitment to combating the environmental threat.

This incident occurs against a backdrop of a challenging year for Puebla's forests. The National Forestry Commission (Conafor) reports that 160 forest fires have occurred in the state this year alone, affecting over three thousand hectares of forest land. The ongoing efforts in Zautla underscore the persistent vulnerability of the region's natural resources to such events and the critical importance of continued vigilance and response.
