Malaysia Announces Additional RM2 Million Aid for Veterans Ahead of Heroes Day

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced an additional RM2 million in aid for Malaysian military veterans, coinciding with the upcoming Heroes Day celebrations.

The allocation, approved by the Ministry of Finance, aims to bolster the welfare of veterans from the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM). The Prime Minister stated that this supplementary funding reflects the government's deep appreciation for the dedication and sacrifices made by veterans in safeguarding the nation. He emphasized that the welfare of these veterans will continue to be a priority, with potential further improvements to be considered during the upcoming budget presentation.

Speaking at the Heroes Day celebration event, Anwar also highlighted significant investments in military housing. The government has approved RM844 million this year for the renovation and construction of Armed Forces Family Housing (RKAT) across the country. This includes the development of 1,300 new housing units in Kem Syed Sirajuddin, Gemas, scheduled for completion next year. This initiative addresses long-standing reports of inadequate maintenance in existing military residences, some of which have not been upgraded for 20 to 25 years.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister noted other allocations, including RM300,000 for improvements to the Institut Latihan Islam Malaysia (ILMI), RM1 million for the maintenance of various mosques and suraus, and RM3 million for the upkeep of Malaysian Armed Forces schools in Negeri Sembilan. These investments underscore the government's commitment to providing comfortable living conditions for military personnel and their families, recognizing their service to the country.
