Malaysia Firmly Defends Right to Ban Israeli Citizens

Malaysia stands firm in its sovereign right to prohibit the entry of any Israeli citizens, a policy that has been in place for decades, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim affirmed. He emphasized that this stance is not new but a consistent application of Malaysia's position. The decision stems from the ongoing "atrocities, occupation, and killings" perpetrated by Israel against Palestinians. Anwar Ibrahim declared that Malaysia will not yield to any threats or pressure from parties questioning this policy. He dismissed calls from some U.S. Congress members, who alleged Malaysia violated international law by imposing the ban, as baseless. "Malaysia is an independent country," he stated, asserting the nation's right to determine its own policies. He clarified that Malaysia's issue is not with Jewish people but specifically with Israeli citizens due to their government's actions. The Prime Minister assured that this policy will not affect diplomatic relations between Malaysia and the United States.
