Malaysia's 2027 School Year Infrastructure Ready Ahead of Schedule

Malaysia's Ministry of Education is well ahead of schedule in preparing infrastructure for the 2027 school year, which will see six-year-old children entering first grade. Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek announced that a significant portion of the necessary projects are already complete, demonstrating the ministry's preparedness.

"Congratulations, because in our preparations, especially our infrastructure preparations to receive six-year-old children in first grade next year, some projects are already finished 'ahead of time'. That means much earlier," Sidek said during a monthly assembly. She extended her gratitude to the Secretary-General and the team for their diligent work in ensuring the readiness of school facilities.

Sidek plans to visit schools with early-completed infrastructure projects to personally assess their readiness. She also confirmed that other preparations, such as teacher placements, are proceeding smoothly based on the early announcement of the six-year-old intake policy. The initiative has been met with encouraging responses from parents, with the ministry still receiving inquiries and registrations.

"As of yesterday, we are still receiving inquiries and registrations for these six-year-olds. Throughout this year, there are still parents who want to continue registering their children," Sidek noted. She expressed confidence that the admission process for six-year-old first graders will be more organized next year due to the increasingly thorough and structured preparations.
