Malaysia's Election Commission Awaits Official Notice for Johor State Election Dates

Malaysia's Election Commission (SPR) is poised to announce the election timeline for the upcoming Johor state election, pending official confirmation of the dissolution of the State Legislative Assembly. The SPR chairman, Datuk Seri Ramlan Harun, stated that the commission will proceed with scheduling a special meeting to deliberate on the crucial dates for the 16th Johor State Election as soon as formal notification is received from the Speaker of the Johor State Assembly.

This announcement follows the recent media conference held by Johor's Menteri Besar, Onn Hafiz Ghazi, who declared the dissolution of the 15th Johor State Legislative Assembly. The SPR has taken note of this development and is now awaiting the official decree that will trigger the election process.

Once the Speaker officially communicates the date of the State Legislative Assembly's dissolution, the SPR will convene its special meeting. This meeting is essential for finalizing the election calendar, including nomination day, polling day, and other significant dates necessary for the smooth conduct of the Pilihan Raya Negeri (PRN) Johor Ke-16.
