Malaysia's PN Open to Talks with BN on Cooperation for Melaka Election

Perikatan Nasional (PN) has expressed its openness to engaging in discussions with Barisan Nasional (BN) regarding potential cooperation and seat exchanges for the upcoming Melaka State Election. Datuk Seri Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar, PN's chairman, indicated that although no formal talks have taken place yet, the coalition remains receptive to negotiations.

"PN is also open to holding any form of consultation, although at this moment, there are no such discussions," Ahmad Samsuri told reporters after officiating the 23rd Perak Pas Convention in Taiping. He noted that the exact date for the Melaka election has not yet been announced, leaving a considerable window for dialogue. "We also do not know the date of the Melaka election; with the time remaining, the space for discussion is still wide open, whether among PN leaders themselves or with our friends in Muafakat. If they are ready to discuss, God willing, we are also ready."

Ahmad Samsuri emphasized the importance of conducting such negotiations before finalizing seat allocations between parties. He added that any agreements reached should prioritize the greater interest, particularly ensuring the formation of a stable government post-election. This stance follows a report yesterday where BN Chairman Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi stated that his party was also open to cooperation or seat exchanges with certain parties for the Melaka election.
