Malaysia seizes container suspected of carrying goods to Israel

Malaysia's Border Control and Enforcement Agency (AKP) has seized a shipping container at Port Tanjung Pelepas in Johor, which is suspected of carrying goods destined for Israel. The agency acted on intelligence received, leading to the inspection and detention of the container.

According to the AKP, the shipment is believed to violate Item No. 15 of the Second Schedule of the Customs (Prohibition of Exports) Order 2023. This regulation explicitly prohibits the direct or indirect export of goods to Israel, in line with the Malaysian government's established policy.

The AKP stated that further investigations are underway in collaboration with relevant authorities and agencies. These investigations aim to confirm the nature, specifications, use, and classification of the goods within the container. The agency will also determine if the items are strategic goods subject to control under the Strategic Trade Act 2010 and its related subsidiary legislation.

Malaysia has reiterated its firm stance against any actions that contravene its policies, restrictions, and laws concerning Israel. The government emphasized that any attempt to export goods, directly or indirectly, to Israel that goes against national laws and directives will be met with strict enforcement.
