Man arrested after unprovoked stabbing in Osijek park

Osijek police have apprehended a 25-year-old man suspected of a brutal stabbing that occurred in broad daylight in a city park. The incident left a 62-year-old victim with severe injuries and has led to the suspect being charged with attempted murder.

The alleged attack took place on August 7 around 2:20 PM in Park Kralja Držislava. According to investigators, the suspect approached the victim and, without any apparent reason or provocation, inflicted multiple stab and slash wounds with a sharp object. The victim was rushed to the Clinical Hospital Center Osijek, where he remains hospitalized for treatment of his serious injuries.

Following the incident, the suspect fled the scene but was later apprehended by authorities. A search of his home and belongings, conducted under a court order, reportedly uncovered items linked to the crime. The 25-year-old was taken into custody on August 8 and subsequently handed over to the County State Attorney's Office in Osijek.

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the motive behind the unprovoked assault. The case highlights a disturbing act of violence in a public space, prompting concern among local residents.
