Man awarded Dhs40,000 after being falsely accused of forging signature in Abu Dhabi

A man in Abu Dhabi has been awarded Dhs40,000 in compensation after being falsely accused of forging a signature, a case that led to criminal proceedings against him.

The Abu Dhabi Family, Civil and Administrative Cases Court ordered the defendant to pay the compensation for the material and moral damages incurred by the plaintiff. The plaintiff had sued the defendant, seeking Dhs150,000 for the harm caused, plus legal interest and incurred expenses.

The plaintiff argued that the defendant had deliberately insulted him and illegally involved him in criminal reports and lawsuits. The core of the accusation involved a criminal report where the defendant claimed the plaintiff forged his signature on a document intended to exempt someone from late payment fines.

However, a forensic evidence report concluded that the signature on the document actually belonged to the defendant. Based on this finding, the Public Prosecution administratively dismissed the complaint filed against the plaintiff, confirming the accusation was false.
